I have Orbi 970 and the internet keeps throttling (downgrading) for the upload and the download. I have 2.5Gbps and it’s getting throttled to 50Mbps for the upload and around 900Mbps for the download..
the building I live in is new, and I got the fiber box through hringdu two weeks ago, a Ljosleiðarinn sticker is on the fiber box.
As soon as they installed the fiber box, I did run a test and the internet was great. I was getting the correct speed..
At night I did run a test and the internet was throttled/drops and downgrades the speed.. I'm using Netgear Orbi 970 Black edition, it's connected directly from the fiber box (No router in between).. I thought the problem is with the router, I contacted Netgear and they sent me replacement,
the same problem happened..
I ordered ASUS BQ16 from amazon, and the same problem happened but the difference is that on ASUS router, it takes a very long time for the problem to happen, but on Orbi it happens after maximum 35 minutes from restarting the router after facing the problem..
I tried different LAN cables and the problem remains..
all my tests are through LAN not wireless..
Devices I tested: Mac Mini M4 Pro , Macbook Pro M3 Pro (USB C to 2.5Gbps LAN), and Apple TV 4K 3rd Gen LAN.
I got told on reddit that :
"Míla only runs gpon for customers which would explain very well what you're experiencing.
Ljósleiðarinn runs p2p for customers so what you're experiencing wouldn't make a lot of sense."
But honestly I didn't understand the difference..
I think the problem is with the fiber box or from Hringdu itself, anybody facing the same problem ? or have any idea about what's going on in my case? I reside in Reykjavik 101, around Grandi
