SOLD
Hello all,
I'm selling my Acer Nitro 5 VN7-592G that i've had for 3 years (bought in the summer 2019) due to an upgrade. Before everything, the chassis is in poor condition (see pictures) not even due to mistreating it. It seems to me the plastic was bad quality, because it started breaking in normal use (opening/closing the screen), the corner in the second picture was already broken when I bought it for example. The battery is not great either, as it's been plugged most of the time in the last couple of years (Windows' battery report says 36879 mWh out of 52,497 mWh, or about 30% wear). Lastly, the integrated speakers randomly start to sound "deepfried" when using them in game or other intensive situation, they stop doing so by restarting the computer but still annoying, I expect there's a way to fix that. I used headphones or external speakers and it didn't sound bad throught them.
Other than that, it's a good laptop that works like a charm. It can run older games with good quality and some newer ones in low settings (Psychonauts 2 above 30fps in low, Overwatch 2 above 60 fps in low and about 75% scale). Other games that run well include: Skyrim, Civilization 6, Dishonored, Minecraft, Terraria, Team Fortress, Disco Elysium... I've used Blender and some light video editing with no problem either.
I've had a good time with this computer but i recently upgraded and don't need it anymore. I think there's a couple more comfortable years of use to get out of this one. An ideal use would be as a cheap entry/low-level gaming "desktop" or as a home server. I wouldn't use it for school, work, or anything that requires everyday transport since the hinge is pretty bad.
I've used it a lot since i bought it 3 years ago, and it was already 1 year used, so I think a price of around 30.000 isk is reasonable. If it works for you, I would exchange it for a RX 6600 (XT) or similar from AMD (gaming on Linux am i right) if you have one laying around (I can add the difference).
I live in Hvanneyri in Borgarbyggð but i come often in Reykjavik, i can deliver it myself. I'll include one of those plasticky Nedis laptop stand that does the job well enough.
Here are some pictures of it down there, this is a link to an album with more pictures and benchmarks.
